At what age should my child be saying certain sounds?
Here are some general guidelines for common sound errors, but please reach out for a more in depth consultation:
/K, G/ - developing at 4 years old
/S/, “SH” - 5 years old
/L, R/ - 5-6 years old

How long will my child need therapy?
This is dependent on the severity of your child’s needs, your child’s stimulability for skills (if they’re able to produce the sound or do the skill with maximum support yet), and how often the come to therapy and practice at home. Ultimately, the decision is up to you, as you can choose to terminate services at any time.

How does payment work?
We require that sessions be paid for in advance. You may pay for 1 at a time, or as a package (making the payment cheaper per session). Refunds are not permitted unless there are extreme extenuating circumstances. We accept Visa, Mastercard and Discover.

What is the difference between speech and language?
Speech is the articulation of sounds in a language. For example, if your child says /f/ instead of the “th” sound, that would be a speech error.
Receptive Language how well we understand what is being said to us. Expressive language is how well we can express our wants, needs and thoughts.

What does a Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) do?
SLPs can address concerns with a lot in addition to speech and language, including voice, stuttering/fluecy, play, swallowing (dysphagia) and social skills.

What is dyslexia?
Dyslexia is characterized by difficulties with accurate and/or fluent word recognition, poor spelling and decoding abilities, and neurobiological in origin. Dyslexia is more than just letter/number reversals, although reversals are common. 1 in 5 school-aged children has dyslexia.
